We are currently recruiting for two full time clerks.

  • First Junior Civil Clerk (Full Time Maternity Cover 12months)
  • Second Junior Civil Clerk

 

1st Junior Civil Clerk (Maternity Cover 12 months)

Salary Range: Circa £40,000

Chambers are seeking a 1st Junior Civil Clerk able to act as the public face of Chambers Civil Team which cover a diverse range of practices. It is essential that applicants are familiar with a broad range of publically and privately funded civil work.

 

Minimum Criteria:

10 years civil clerking experience at least 5 of those at the level of First Junior.Full Billing Capability- all types of civil cases:

  • FGF
  • CLR
  • CFA
  • HCC
  • CLA

Experience of Fee Negotiation in Private, CFA and Legally Aided mattersExperience of Marketing in both new and old media.Knowledge or Experience of practice development for junior and senior Barristers.Familiarity with chambers main practice areas.Ability to mange the diary on a day to day basis.8. Experience of managing junior staff as a line manager.

 

Second Junior Civil Clerk

Salary Range: Circa £26,000 (subject to experience)

 Chambers are seeking a 2nd Junior Civil Clerk to undertake tasks allocated by Senior and 1st Junior Clerks (Civil) in relation to the diary, taking bookings and, when required the agreement and recording of Barristers' fees.

Chambers Civil Team have diverse practices and it is essential that applicants are familiar with a broad range of publically and privately funded civil work.

 

Minimum Criteria/Job description:

3-5 years experience as a civil clerk.

Experience in obtaining/maintaining accurate information about the progress of all cases and recording them onto the computer system Meridian.

IT Skills essential.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience in all relevant civil billing work for Members of Chambers in accordance with current practices. Example:

  • FGF
  • CLR
  • CFA
  • HCC
  • CLA

Experience in Family billing including current legal aid billing.

Working as part of a team and attend to any other general clerking or office tasks as may be reasonably requested by the other members of chambers or members of the clerks room.

Familiarity with chambers main practice areas i.e Family, Housing, Immigration, Landlord and Tenant, Employment and General Civil Litigation.

The post is temporary.
