Practice

Roger practises exclusively in criminal law, principally on the South Eastern Circuit. He prosecutes and defends and undertakes leading work in both disciplines. His principal area of expertise is in serious sex offences, but he also has significant expertise in cases involving proceeds of crime, drug trafficking, and fraud.

Profile

Roger trained under Barbara Mills Q.C. (later to become DPP and head of the Crown Prosecution Service). His second six-month pupillage was in the Chambers of the then Attorney-General where he saw much work relating to the terrorist activities of the IRA. He was head of Chambers for a short interregnum, and has for the last 10 years been deputy head of Chambers.

This year Roger has had a successful run of high profile prosecutions, instructed by the CPS Media Interest department.  The year strated with a wounding case at Southwark Crown Court in which the crime editor of a well known daily paper was the victim.  In the next case, Roger prosecuted a British Airways steward for a sexual assault on a high profile leader of the world bank on a BA flight to Washington. The year culminated in the successful prosecution of the international/Premiership footballer Marlon King for a sexual and violent assault on a young girl, which led to much international press interest, and interviews for both TV and radio.

Roger continues to give seminars in sex offences and domestic violence for the Bar and Law Society.

Roger is married with 2 children and lives in east London. His hobbies include narrow-boating and Rugby Union. He speaks French and Polish.
