Profile

Ranjeet was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple in 1999. She completed her pupilage at 2 Dyers Buildings in 2000 (Pupil to Mr Andrew Jefferies QC during first six and pupil to Mr Michael Gledhill QC during second six)

Ranjeet is a well-regarded Barrister who specialises in crime , immigration , asylum and human rights work. She has a professional and approachable manner and is often instructed on cases involving young offenders, vulnerable clients and those with mental health problems. She is highly respected by her professional (and lay) clients for consistently delivering postive results through her comprehensive and methodical approach to her cases.

Crime

Ranjeet has extensive experience in serious criminal cases concerning a wide range of criminal offences varying from violent, sexual, fraudulant, drugs and regulatory matters. She has been led by both Silks and experienced Leading juniors counsel on lengthy mulit-handed trials.

Notable cases include:

R v M and Others - Junior Counsel defending first and principal defendant in a large scale fraudulent trading and money laundering case involving an affinity fraud against members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

R v K & Others - Junior Counsel defending multi-handed conspiracy to supply 132kgs of heroin.

R v B - Junior Counsel to the principal defendant in a double-handed large scale immigration fraud.

Immigration

Ranjeet provides representation and advice in all areas of immigration , asylum nantionality and human rights law. She has represented clients at all levels of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in cases ranging from entry clearance, refugee to criminal deportation appeals.

In recent months, Ranjeet has been kept very busy with work involving Tier 1 and Tier 4 (points based system) appeals and also student appeal relating to 'bogus' colleges and qualifications.


Other

Prior to commencing her career at the English Bar, Ranjeet undertook a range of voluntary work placements both in the UK and abroad. These included working on death penalty cases at the Capital Litigation Unit in the Public Defenders Office, Miami Florida.


Languages

Ranjeet is fluent in Punjabi and speaks conversational Hindi and Urdu.
