Practice

Jacques is a specialist criminal law advocate appearing for both the defence and prosecution. He has been instructed both alone and as junior counsel in a wide range of serious and complex criminal matters including, corporate blackmail, corruption in public office, kidnap, false imprisonment, firearms offences, importation and supply of controlled drugs, historical sexual abuse of children, and all levels of violent crime.

Jacques has particular expertise in large scale fraud, having been instructed in a number of cases involving financial and Government institutions, including a $2.5 trillion US Treasury Bond Fraud. He has also undertaken work for the Serious Fraud Office, and is currently instructed as part of the team investigating the collapse of a listed company.

Additionally, Jacques also has a developing prison law practice, representing serving prisoners at adjudication hearings; drafting written submissions to, and undertaking oral hearings before, the Parole Board.
