Chris Moran (2007)Crime, Family, Mental Health, Judicial Review
Chris is a Defence Advocate who is regularly instructed in the Crown Court in a variety of matters. Typical cases range from minor offences where a Defendant may have elected trial by jury through to violent and fraud related offences. Chris has had particular success in cases involving Abuse of Process, Fitness to Plead and also has experience representing individuals for Contempt in the Face of the Court.
Chris has also been instructed in POCA matters and Extradition hearings.
Chris particularly enjoys the ‘problem solving' aspects of this often sensitive area of law. Chris has a strong reputation in his handling of, and calming influence upon, those he represents who are often distressed at having to attend Court and fear what it may mean for the future.
In addition to the above areas Chris represents at Immigration bail applications; conducts small claims cases in a variety of areas; practices Extradition and represents at landlord and tenant disputes.
After completing his Politics degree Chris spent 2 years teaching English in Northern Thailand where he worked in a number of schools including volunteering in some of the poorest and most remote areas.
Chris has always passionately believed that the greatest duty of any state is to ensure a voice is given to the poorest or most marginalised in society. The worth of a democracy is best judged by its ability to provide checks and balances on the use, and abuse of power. It is for this reason that Chris came to the Bar and enjoys Advocating for those who, for whatever reason, find themselves in Court.
